It is Time for a New Vision to Power America!
We are in the midst of some of the most challenging times in recent history. Rising unemployment, falling home prices, decimated retirement plans and continuing cuts in government services have affected us all. Old models are simply failing, and in some respects the future may not be as bright as it once appeared.
Some suggest that there have been times in our nation’s history, including the founding of the Republic, the Civil War, the Great Depression and World War II, where what we did as a country was determinative of whether we’d survive as a country.
It appears that we may be at one of those very moments in our history yet again. But it is at precisely these inflection points we Americans rise to the challenge. When we focus our collective energy there is nothing that we cannot achieve – and now is the time to ensure that our future is as bright as our past!

- Why is Nevada itself also at such an inflection point?
- Nevada has the highest rate of foreclosures in the country, and fifty-five percent of Nevada homeowners now owe more on their mortgages than their homes are worth. Having been hit hard by the recession, Nevadans need relief and not more taxes. Ranching, mining and gaming are historically important components of Nevada’s economy, but they too can no longer be expected to pay the bills. Nevada needs a sustainable revenue model to help create a better future for its citizens, and it needs it now!
- Why can a vision for a clean energy future help Nevada?
- Nevada has found itself at similar inflection points in the past, including several economic depressions over its history as then major industries declined. Every time, however, Nevada has managed to adjust to the new order and successfully reinvent itself – and today is no different. Nevada is uniquely positioned to lead the Nation into a clean energy future, and through such leadership we can prosper economically for years to come.
- What must happen to help make this vision a reality – and now?
- Change – change – change. That is the single most important driver to making the vision for a clean energy future a reality in Nevada. The old ways of doing business must be replaced by dramatically different approaches to quickly, but sustainably, develop Nevada’s resources. We do not have decades, it is only a matter of years before we lose this opportunity to another state – or another nation. We can’t afford to be defeated in this battle!
- Why can the Clean Energy Foundation help Nevada and Nevadans?
- There are many organizations already pushing hard for change on a national level, a few of which are listed in the adjacent links. The focus of the Foundation, however, is on changing attitudes in Carson City and elsewhere in the State through localized research, education and advocacy. We need clean energy solutions for Nevada developed by Nevadans, and that is the singular mission of the Foundation.
